Juliana J Southwick
Ordained Minister in Rockmart, Georgia
About Me:
I have been interacting and working with spirits since I can remember, and have been formally studying and practicing Witchcraft as a result of this for almost 28 years now (come April--couldn't get the experience slider bar below to be exact laugh), since I was 13, the week of my birthday. I began by studying Wicca and Celtic Paganism at 13 years old, and while I grew into a more broad path as I got older, I am still a Witch (Lokean, to be specific). I have a working relationship with the Irish, Welsh, and Norse deities and spirits (as a whole, we call them "wights" in many Northern European traditions), and am specifically devoted to the trickster deity Loki. No, he is not evil, though he is certainly complicated.
I am a polytheist, animist, and spirit worker. I personally do not use the word "shaman," though I have gone through a spirit induced initiatory illness lasting several years and perform many practices that may bear resemblence to certain indigenous practices in their basic forms--but these are all found world-wide, and are not specific to any one group--due to issues of cultural missappropriation, and because my practices are based on reconstruction using Irish, Welsh, and Norse lore and primary sources, combined with personal gnosis and the gnosis of elders I trust and respect, and are not based on the practices of Native American or any other indigenous peoples, any similarities being unintentional, and represent the universality of such basic nature-based practices rather than any sort of missappropriation.
Drumming to induce trance has been found almost everywhere, for example. Certain people from all over the world have always interacted with spirits for the sake of the community, as I do, and I form spiritual and working relationships not only with living human people, but deities, nature spirits, deceased humans, and various other entities. These are fundamentally human skills, they belong to us all, not exclusively to any one group.
I have been scrying since I first started my studies, and while it is my favorite form of divination, I also use various other methods as well. I am adept at trance work, as well as various modalities of energy work.
Right now, I am packing up and getting ready to move to Colorado in the upcoming weeks. I am not going to be offering any of my more time consuming services, but am available to anyone in my immediate area for spiritual consultations (in person, if you can travel, as I do not drive and there is no public transportation out here, or if outside of my area, by phone or Skype), which, as long as no services such as teaching certain skills or performing formal rituals are required, are always free--I never charge to talk, and while my usual hours are 8am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday (currently Eastern time, but will change to Mountain Standard once I'm in Colorado), these hours do not apply for people in urgent need of a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, a hand to hold, or an open heart who feel they can't wait. I have had my own "dark nights of the soul," and am happy to stand by and aid those going through their own.
I am not a licenced mental health professional, however, and if I see that you need care that I am not trained to provide as a spiritual advisor, I will suggest you seek out such care, and will spiritually support you while a mental health professional helps you in the clinical ways in which they are trained. Seeing a mental health professional is a perfectly normal and healthy thing to do. It is nothing to be embarrassed about, ever, and you can rest assured I will not judge you, and, within the limits of the law, everything you say to me will be kept in the strictest of confidence. Everyone needs help some times, and it is estimated that 1 in 5 in the U.S. will suffer from a diagnosable mental illness at some point in their life. So it is normal, as is seeking professional help.
Once I have settled into Colorado, I will begin to offer a more full range of spiritual services. At that point I will update this information with the services I provide, their prices, accepted forms of payments etc.
