Zoe Ryan O'Haillin-Berne
Ordained Minister in Indianapolis, Indiana
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister because I recognized a significant gap in spiritual care for LGBTQ+ and pagan communities. Too often, these groups faced barriers when seeking officiants for important life events like weddings, funerals, or rites of passage. I felt called to serve as an inclusive and affirming minister, offering a safe and welcoming space where everyone—regardless of their identity or beliefs—can celebrate life's milestones with dignity and love.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Central Indiana, and still reside there to date.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Through my ordination, I aim to make ministerial care more accessible and inclusive, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals and those of pagan or blended faiths. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience spiritual support that honors their identity and beliefs, and I am dedicated to offering personalized, affirming services that meet the diverse needs of all people, regardless of background or tradition.

Additional Information
My personal religious and spiritual path is rooted in Christopaganism, a faith that blends traditional Christianity with ancient pagan beliefs. The Christian aspects of my practice are informed by the Episcopal Church and the Church of Ireland, while my pagan roots are deeply connected to Celtic traditions, shaped by my Irish heritage. While my own beliefs influence my spiritual journey, I respect the diversity of others' paths and am happy to officiate weddings for couples of all faiths and backgrounds (as long as it's culturally appropriate for me to do so). I work closely with couples to create ceremonies that honor their unique beliefs and customs, ensuring the language and traditions reflect their values while leaving my personal faith out of the process.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Indianapolis, IN wedding officiant?
What sets my wedding officiating apart is my focus on collaboration with couples to create a ceremony that truly reflects their unique love, values, and vision. I work closely with each couple to custom-tailor the service and style, allowing for flexibility and personal expression without being bound by the liturgical rules or traditions of a specific religion or denomination. This approach is especially helpful for couples of blended faiths or those whose personal identity or spiritual beliefs may not align with traditional religious settings, ensuring that their ceremony is authentic, inclusive, and meaningful.
