In order to help our ministers gain the skills they will need to perform wedding, funeral and baptismal ceremonies, as well as being well-educated and adept religious leader for their communities, the Universal Life Church has gathered a collection of free church supplies that are available to anyone who has the will to learn and develop their spirituality. These church supplies include religious texts, materials to help ULC ministers start their own ministry, and essays on philosophy and religion (among others).

The Universal Life Church hopes to greatly expand this section of this site over time. Please e-mail us if you know of free downloadable church supplies that would be beneficial for our ministers to have or read. We will also publish materials written and created by ULC ministers, provided that it is germane and professional.

Religious Texts

Download the Bible, Quran, Talmud and other religious texts here.

Arguably the most important thing a religious scholar must study are the beliefs and scriptures of other religions. The Universal Life Church has gathered a short list of important religious texts that you can download for study or merely to reference whenever you have a scriptural question. Many of the people who get ordained through the Universal Life Church are Christian or have Christian backgrounds; we encourage you to sample and read passages from the none-Christian texts below if you fall into this category.

New International Version Bible – The central book of the Christian faith and the most-printed book of all time, the Bible contains the stories incorporated into the Jewish, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox belief systems. This version of the Bible was translated by religious scholars from around the world and was first put into print in the 1970s.

Quran – “The recitation” is both the most important religious text of the Islamic faith and the finest piece of literature written in Arabic, the world’s fifth most-spoken language. Regarded as the final divine revelation given by God to human beings in Islam, the text that now comprises the Quran was told to Muhammad by the angel Gabriel over 23 years; Gabriel’s words were transcribed and formed into the Quran’s current form years later.

Talmud – Second only to the Torah in the Judaic faith, the Talmud is a 6,000 page collection of writing about Jewish law, philosophy, history and customs, among other things. These writings are the opinions of thousands of rabbis that have been collated over time. This book is a summary of these writings and is meant for people who are not familiar with Jewish teachings.

Bhagavad Gita – One of the main pieces of scripture in the Hindu faith, the Bhagavad Gita consists of 700 verses about a conversation between Arjuna, a mighty warrior prince, and his guide, Krishna. This allegory of war (amongst other things) is divided into 18 easily-accessible chapters and is well worth the read for anyone who is interested in Hinduism.

How to Study and Teach the Bible – Interested in starting your own bible study classes or being a religious instructor within your community? Religious scholars with an interest in Christianity and teaching Christians should read through this guide to develop their skills.

Biblical Counseling Manual – Some Universal Life Church ministers serve as spiritual counselors for their friends, families, and even members of their communities. These ministers need to learn the requisite skills for spiritual counseling from somewhere, so many of them look to manuals like this one.

Bible Introduction 101 – Those who want to preach the Bible need to know all about it first. This small, 125 page book provides an introductory look into the Bible and does a good job covering what ULC ministers need to know in order to compose sermons and draw lessons from it.

Grief Counseling Guide – ULC ministers who have their own ministries may be called upon to provide grief counseling services for members of their congregation. This short guide, issued by the New York State Office of Mental Health, will provide you with some insight on how to comfort the family and friends of the deceased.
